Originally built in the early 1900s but was destroyed in the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake. Rebuilt in the 1930s during Napier’s ArtDeco reconstruction period, though the exact architect is not well recorded. The building reflects classic Art Deco design with clean lines and strong horizontal form. A standout feature is the wave-like zigzag parapet along the roofline, adding a bold geometric detail typical of the era.
